My name is Jason Caridi
Ever since I was 14 years old, I got the age-old comment from the older generations, "That voice! You should be in radio!" A teenager who just wanted to watch and make movies, I had no interest in the sort.
Still, literally weekly as an adult, a new acquaintance, or a cashier hearing me croon "Card, please", or an older woman overhearing my vibrant conversations, they would comment, "You have such a great voice!", the latter with a bit of a twinkle in her own.
Years later, I'd built a successful video production business, as well as gained experience writing, performing and crooning my own music. I directed countless people on camera, including actors for my own low-budget films. I developed the artistic nuances of movement, voice, and performance. Now, with formal training, I've become my own version of what other people wanted me to be.
One last story... whenever I was meeting a friend of my father's or his three brothers, all who share my name and have gentle, yet booming, resonant voices, I would hear the same thing. "You've got that 'Caridi Voice'!"
